CAC Introduces New Guidelines For Business Name Update

CAC Business name update

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has introduced new compulsory requirements for all business name online update requests, effective immediately.

According to a statement posted on its X account on Wednesday, applicants must now provide additional personal and contact details to strengthen verification processes and enhance record accuracy for registered businesses.

The commission emphasized that the move is intended to improve verification and ensure the accuracy of registered business data.

“Under the new guidelines, every Business Name Online Update submission must include date of birth, registered office email, proprietor’s email address, phone number for the registered office or proprietor, where different and a valid means of identification,” CAC stated.

The commission explained that the updated requirements are part of ongoing reforms aimed at improving documentation integrity, preventing fraud, and ensuring seamless communication with business proprietors.

By mandating these details, the CAC expects to streamline its database, ease compliance checks, and provide more secure and efficient services to entrepreneurs nationwide.

The commission urged proprietors to comply with the updated guidelines to avoid delays in processing their requests. The CAC has, in recent months, increased pressure on businesses to comply with registration rules under the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020 (CAMA).
