Breaking : Venezuelan Corina Machado Awarded 2025 Nobel Peace Prize

Trump's Dream Prize Eludes Him For Another Year

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has awarded the Nobel Peace Prize 2025 to Venezuelan Maria Corina Machado for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy. The Nobel Peace Prize 2025 Winner announcement was met with global acclaim.

Maria Corina Machado

Machado, born on October 7, 1967, in Caracas, is a Venezuelan politician, civil engineer, and one of the most prominent opposition figures in her country’s modern history. A staunch advocate of liberal democracy and free-market principles, she co-founded the civic group Súmate in 2002 to promote electoral transparency.

Over the years, she has become a leading voice against the authoritarian governments of Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro, enduring persecution, disqualification, and political harassment. Her resounding victory in Venezuela’s 2023 opposition presidential primary cemented her status as a symbol of the nation’s democratic resistance and its hope for change, she was, however, barred from contesting the elections and has been in exile for most of Nicolas Maduro’s reign.

Donald Trump’s Wait For a Nobel Peace Prize Continues

Donald Trump has never masked his obsession with the Nobel Peace Prize. As Maria Corina Machado is celebrated as the Nobel Peace Prize 2025 Winner, Trump’s aspiration remains unfulfilled.

Calling himself the president of peace, Trump has repeatedly expressed frustration that his diplomatic initiatives, such as the Abraham Accords and North-South Korea talks, and now his brokering of a peace deal in Gaza had not earned him the honor.

He constantly questions why Barack Obama received the prize while he did not. Trump might therefore have to move his expectations of a Nobel Peace Prize till next year and if not, then the year after, as he continues his pursuit while the 2025 winner is already celebrated globally.
