A Magistrate’s Court in Kuje, Abuja, on Friday granted bail to publisher and activist Omoyele Sowore; Aloy Ejimakor, a member of the legal team representing the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu; the IPOB leader’s brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu; and ten others, for ₦500,000, with two sureties in like sum.
The thirteen defendants were arrested and arraigned before the court for inciting public disturbance and breach of peace in connection with the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest held on Monday, October 20, in Abuja.
Omoyele Sowore was arrested by armed policemen on Thursday shortly after he appeared at the Federal High Court in Abuja for the trial of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu. Aloy Ejimakor and Prince Emmanuel Kanu had earlier been arrested in Abuja during the #FreeNnamdikanu protest earlier in the week
Nnnamdi Kanu Case Drags on
Nnamdi Kanu who recently disengaged his lawyers failed to open his defence for the second time at the Federal High Court in Abuja in the alleged terrorism trial on Friday.
Kanu, who opted to defend himself, told Justice James Omotosho upon resumed hearing that his disengaged lawyers were yet to hand over the case file to him, he further sought an adjournment until Monday to enable him to prepare for his defence which was granted
