Brazilian President Lula says Trump guaranteed trade deal with US

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said on Monday that U.S. President-elect Donald Trump had guaranteed a trade deal between the two countries.

Lula made the remarks during a meeting with journalists at the Planalto presidential palace.

“I spoke with Trump, and he guaranteed me that there will be a trade agreement between Brazil and the United States,” Lula said, without providing further details on the conversation or the potential agreement.

Trump, who won the U.S. presidential election earlier this month and is set to take office in January, has previously expressed interest in strengthening trade ties with Brazil.

Brazilian officials have been pushing for closer economic relations with the United States, particularly in areas such as agriculture, energy, and manufacturing.
