Role Purpose

The Partnerships Manager will lead BBC World Service’s partnership activities across Anglophone West Africa.

The role involves developing strategic media collaborations, negotiating contracts, driving audience growth, and monitoring market developments across the region.

This is a market-facing leadership role requiring strong commercial judgement, regulatory understanding, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a coherent partnerships strategy aligned with organisational growth plans
• Identify and secure strategic media and digital distribution partners
• Monitor competitor activities and key market developments
• Lead contract negotiations in collaboration with BBC Legal teams
• Implement systematic pricing policies and maintain performance reporting systems
• Work closely with Marketing, Strategic Planning, Business Operations, Audience Insights & Distribution teams
• Travel extensively across West Africa
• Recruit and manage staff where required

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong understanding of the West African media landscape and regulatory frameworks
• Demonstrable experience in partnerships, media distribution, or commercial roles
• Strong negotiation, influencing, and networking skills
• Financial management knowledge and ability to implement partnership plans
• Proven ability to deliver measurable commercial outcomes

Language Requirements:
• Fluent English (Required)
• Fluency in Pidgin, Yoruba, Igbo, or Hausa (Added Advantage)
