Armand “Mondo” Duplantis has set a new Pole Vault World Record, clearing 6.30 metres at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo to set his 14th world record and clinch a third consecutive outdoor world title.

The 25-year-old Swede surpassed his previous mark of 6.29m set earlier this year in Budapest in his third attempt extending his streak of 49 straight victories across major championships. Greece’s Emmanouil Karalis took silver with 6.00m, while Australia’s Kurtis Marschall claimed bronze with a lifetime best of 5.95m.

After the race. Karalis called Duplantis “a once-in-a-generation athlete,” while World Athletics president Sebastian Coe described him as “a phenomenon who continues to lift the sport to new heights, literally and figuratively.” The 25-year-old has now claimed the past eight global men’s pole vault gold medals on offer across both indoor and outdoor competitions following this triumph in the Japanese capital.
