Opay is hiring Team Leads, Key Account nationwide, to manage its Business Development team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Business Developers (BDs) to achieve merchant acquisition and retention targets.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive merchant onboarding, activation, transaction growth, and revenue generation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key merchants and business partners.
  • Oversee the performance and engagement of existing merchants to drive high activity and reduce churn.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify opportunities for expansion and improvement in merchant services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Operations, Product, Risk, Marketing) to ensure a seamless merchant experience.
  • Track KPIs, prepare performance reports, and provide insights for business growth and market penetration.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and operational standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in fintech, payments, merchant acquisition, agent banking, or FMCG field sales.
  • Strong understanding of the merchant value chain, POS business, and digital payments ecosystem.
  • Proven track record in managing sales teams and achieving revenue or acquisition targets.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or any related field.
  • Experience working with fast-paced, high-growth environments is an added advantage.

Business Developer

Location – Nationwide

The business development Officer will be responsible for driving user adoption of our digital products ( E-wallets, cards, etc.) and customer acquisition  in various locations or regions, developing strategies to increase transaction product utilization.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Have a good understanding of the business products or services and be able to advise others about the advantages of our product.
  2. Research and identify new business opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, and individuals.
  3. Meet with customers/clients face-to-face.
  4. Develop relationships with old and new customers/clients.
  5. Work strategically and carry out necessary planning to have a good market penetration.
  6. Discuss promotional strategies and activities, feedback on daily experiences, challenges, and possible ways of resolving the issues.
  7. Familiar with the region of operation.
  8. Setting goals and developing plans for business and revenue growth.
  9. Foster and develop relationships with customers/clients.
  10. Have a good understanding of the business’s products or services and be able to advise others about them.
  11. Managing the sales process for new prospects, from initial contact through to closure.

Job Requirements

  1. HND/BSC in Business Administration, Marketing, and any related course.
  2. Minimum 2 years as a BDE in Merchant Acquiring.
  3. Banking firm  or Direct Sales Executive in a  Commercial Banks.
  4. Previous achievement in the field of sales/Business Development.
  5. Previous achievement/results driving adoption of financial products by customers.
  6. Strong communication and presentation skills.
  7. Strong marketing, engagement & negotiating skills.
