Adamawa State approves ₦22.8 billion virement within ₦486.2 billion 2025 budget to fund NYSC orientation camp, roads, water infrastructure, and social projects as operational expenses surge.

Adamawa Revises 2025 Budget

Adamawa State has revised its 2025 budget, reallocating ₦22.8 billion within the existing ₦486.2 billion envelope to fund emerging priority projects and offset rising operational costs. The State Executive Council, led by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, approved the internal virement during a recent meeting held at the Government House in Yola.

Commissioner for Budget, Mr. Emmanuel Pridimso, told reporters that ₦8 billion from the virement will address depleted overhead allocations across ministries due to increasing operational demands. The remaining ₦14.8 billion is channeled toward capital projects designed to improve infrastructure, governance, and service delivery.

New NYSC Orientation Camp and Infrastructure Upgrades

A major highlight of the revised budget is the allocation of ₦2.04 billion for the construction of a new National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp, supported by ₦199 million for consultancy services. The State also approved ₦3.4 billion for the modernization of its Amusement Park, signaling a drive to boost recreation and tourism.

Key infrastructure upgrades include ₦3 billion for the 24-kilometre Maiha–Mubi Road and ₦1.2 billion for a new 5-kilometre Mubi bypass road linking the cattle market. In addition, ₦800 million has been allocated for the facelift of the Government House in Yola, while ₦500 million will go to consultancy services for renovating the State High Court.

Generator Purchase and Water Projects Boosted

To address energy needs, the Council approved ₦650 million for a 1000 KVA Cummins Generator for the Government House. Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr. Ayuba Audu, announced a ₦360 million upgrade to the Gulak Water Scheme in Madagali LGA, including 12.4 kilometres of water reticulation.

He confirmed that water supply projects are underway in 17 local government areas, reinforcing the administration’s push to improve access to clean water. These projects align with broader efforts to enhance public infrastructure and essential services across Adamawa.

Social Development and Child Protection

On the social front, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Neido Geoffrey, disclosed that the Council deliberated on the return of 13 trafficked children rescued in Anambra State. She urged parents to remain vigilant, emphasizing the grave risks posed by child trafficking and late-hour errands.

Commissioner Pridimso noted that all virements from January to date have been consolidated into a single, streamlined document to be reflected in the official printed version of the 2025 revised budget.
