About the Canva Content Strategy Lead Role

The successful candidate will work closely with Canva’s Sub-Saharan Africa Country Manager and other regional teams to develop and execute content strategies tailored to local audiences.

The position will involve identifying content opportunities that can improve user engagement, activation, retention and revenue while ensuring Canva’s international platform remains culturally relevant to users across African markets.

The Content Strategy Lead will also collaborate with design, marketing, SEO, localisation, product, creator and partnership teams.

Key Responsibilities

The person hired for the role will be expected to:

  • Develop and execute country-level content strategies and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Oversee content production and maintain high standards for quality and relevance.
  • Ensure content reflects local culture, trends and user preferences.
  • Monitor content performance and use data to improve strategic decisions.
  • Improve how local content is discovered through search, recommendations and editorial channels.
  • Lead editorial initiatives and identify important cultural moments that can be activated through content.
  • Work closely with the Country Manager and other teams to align priorities and remove execution challenges.
  • Build relationships with local creators and partners to strengthen Canva’s content ecosystem.
  • Work across content production streams including AI-generated content, creator content, localisation, bespoke production and partnerships.

Requirements for the Canva Job

Canva is looking for candidates with at least three to five years of relevant professional experience in areas such as content strategy, regional business strategy and operations, partnerships, media or marketplace technology.
