NACCIMA Opens Applications for $150 Million Foreign Capital Facility to Help Nigerian Companies Scale

The partnership with Germany's ODDO BHF targets long-term, single-digit financing for manufacturers, agro-processors, energy firms and technology businesses.

Business financing

The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has launched applications for a $150 million Offshore Expansion Facility designed to provide long-term foreign capital to Nigerian companies seeking to expand production, modernise operations and improve competitiveness in international markets.

The financing programme, developed in partnership with German commercial banking group ODDO BHF SE, marks one of NACCIMA’s most ambitious efforts to connect Nigeria’s organised private sector with international investors through a structured digital investment platform. The initiative was unveiled during the Infrastructure Conference 2026 at Afrexim Tower in Abuja, where eligible businesses were invited to begin submitting applications through a dedicated online portal.

How Financing Works

Unlike conventional commercial lending, the facility promises patient capital at single-digit interest rates, reflecting growing recognition that Nigeria’s industrial sector requires longer-tenor financing to fund capital-intensive expansion. According to NACCIMA, successful applicants will be able to access financing beginning at $10 million with repayment periods of at least seven and a half years.

The association said priority will be given to businesses operating in manufacturing, agro-allied processing, energy, logistics, transportation and mineral beneficiation, while reserving 20% of the facility for companies in the digital economy and information and communications technology sector. Defence-related businesses are excluded from the programme.

Speaking at the launch, Waheed Olagunju, Chairman of the Joint NACCIMA-ODDO BHF Working Group Committee and former Managing Director of the Bank of Industry, described the platform as a transparent mechanism for attracting foreign investment into viable Nigerian enterprises.

“What we are launching today is a transparent, globally aligned investment origination pipeline as a demonstration of investors’ confidence in Nigeria’s economy,” he said.

Under the programme’s structure, participating businesses must devote between 35 and 50% of the financing to purchasing eligible machinery, equipment and technology from Europe, with the remaining funds available for use in Nigeria or other approved markets. NACCIMA says the arrangement is intended to facilitate technology transfer while strengthening domestic production capacity.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must demonstrate financial stability, submit at least three years of audited financial statements
  • Comply with environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards and hold membership in recognised business organisations such as NACCIMA, the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), the Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME) or the Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI).

The application platform incorporates bank-grade encryption and automated Know-Your-Customer (KYC) verification processes, a feature NACCIMA says is designed to enhance investor confidence while safeguarding applicants’ financial information.

Why It Matters

NACCIMA is attempting to create a direct pipeline between international capital providers and established Nigerian businesses capable of absorbing large-scale investment.

The minimum financing threshold of $10 million suggests the programme is aimed primarily at medium-sized and large enterprises rather than the broader MSME segment often associated with NACCIMA initiatives.

If successfully implemented, the facility could help address one of Nigeria’s most persistent industrial challenges: access to affordable, long-term foreign currency financing for expansion and technology acquisition. Whether investor appetite matches the ambition of the programme will become clearer as applications progress.
