Conoil Appoints Bolaji Owolabi as Acting Company Secretary

Before joining Conoil, Owolabi gained early legal experience at firms including Dapo Abudu & Co. and Prof. I. O. Smith (SAN) Chambers.

Conoil company secretary

Conoil Plc has appointed Mr Bolaji Owolabi as its Acting Company Secretary replacing Mr David Lanre-Leke following his resignation as Company Secretary, effective September 8, 2025.

In a formal notice dated November 13, 2025, the Board and Management expressed appreciation for Mr. Lanre-Leke’s services during his tenure. To ensure continuity, Mr Bolaji Owolabi was appointed Acting Company Secretary, effective November 12, 2025. This is an interim arrangement pending the appointment of a substantive Company Secretary.

Bolaji Owolabi

Bolaji Owolabi brings substantial expertise to the role. Called to the Nigerian Bar in 1999, he holds an LL.B from Lagos State University and an LL.M from the University of Lagos. He is also an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (ACI Arb) UK. Before joining Conoil, Owolabi gained early legal experience at firms including Dapo Abudu & Co. and Prof. I. O. Smith (SAN) Chambers. In 2003, he joined Globacom Ltd., where he accumulated over 20 years of corporate experience in the telecommunications industry, specializing in commercial legal drafting and corporate legal practice.

This appointment comes during a period when Conoil has faced financial challenges, including a reported decline in profitability for 2025, though the secretariat change is presented as a routine corporate governance matter rather than tied to broader operational issues.
