Aradel Holdings Appoints Nnoli Akpedeye as Independent Non-Executive Director

The company noted that the appointment aligns with its focus on board independence, diversity, and sustainable value creation

Aradel Holdings Plc has announced the appointment of Nnoli Akpedeye to its Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director, effective February 2, 2026, strengthening the company’s governance framework as it deepens its position among Nigeria’s leading indigenous energy producers.

In a statement released on Thursday, Aradel said Akpedeye brings deep, cross-disciplinary experience spanning oil and gas operations, engineering, legal services, and management consulting, adding independent oversight and strategic depth to the Board at a time of heightened investor scrutiny of governance standards in Nigeria’s energy sector.

The company noted that the appointment aligns with its focus on board independence, diversity, and sustainable value creation, particularly as Nigerian energy companies seek to attract long-term capital amid tighter global financing conditions.

Commenting on the appointment, Gbite Falade, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Aradel Holdings, said the company remains committed to the highest standards of corporate governance.

“Ms. Akpedeye’s appointment further strengthens the Board’s oversight, independence, and diversity, guiding our strategic decisions with transparency and accountability,” Falade said.

Governance Signal

Board composition has become a material issue for investors in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, particularly as assets increasingly move into domestic hands and companies compete for international financing. Independent directors with strong technical and advisory backgrounds are viewed as critical to risk management, capital allocation discipline, and regulatory credibility.

Akpedeye’s appointment adds to a broader trend among well-capitalised Nigerian energy firms, including Aradel, to institutionalise governance structures comparable to international peers, a key factor for lenders and equity investors evaluating long-term exposure to the sector.
