A 19-year-old British teenager died early on Monday after falling from the third floor of the Ibiza Rocks Hotel in San Antonio, a popular party destination on the island of Ibiza.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight, and despite the swift arrival of two ambulances, paramedics were unable to resuscitate the teenager, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The Spanish Civil Guard confirmed the victim was a British national and initial investigations, including a review of security footage, suggest the fall was accidental. Authorities are, however awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine whether alcohol or drugs played a role, and they are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Earlier Incident
This tragedy follows a similar incident at the same hotel just two weeks earlier, when 26-year-old Scottish tourist Evan Thomson from Aberdeen died after falling from a reported sixth-floor balcony while celebrating his birthday with friends.
Thomson’s family and friends criticized the hotel for allegedly resuming normal activities, including poolside parties, within 90 minutes of the incident. They accused the establishment of showing a “disregard for life.”
