The Zonal Sales Manager is responsible for the implementation of Route to Market strategy and execution of Trade marketing activities in the assigned territories. Ultimately, the role holder is expected to maintain strong relationships with customers so as to boost the brand and profit in the long run.
Job Responsibilities:

Implement Route-to-Market and Trade Marketing strategies in assigned territories

Manage distributors and retail trade partners effectively

Improve and optimize existing distribution channels
-
Lead Sales Operations Partners and 3rd party sales teams to deliver targets
-
Drive market development to increase Lafarge Africa’s market share and value
-
Ensure accurate demand planning and forecasting within the territory
-
Align bottom-up sales plans with top-down volume strategies
-
Satisfy demand through effective general-purpose distribution and redistribution
-
Build strong relationships through regular field visits and problem-solving
-
Maintain attractive ROI across all trade channels
-
Achieve volume, pricing, and margin targets
-
Track competitor prices, volumes, and market activities
-
Set and monitor customer visit targets for the sales team

Recommend customer offers focused on profitability and margin improvement
-
Ensure customer profitability and long-term business sustainability

Develop and monitor customer-specific business plans
-
Ensure regular customer engagement and service excellence
-
Influence customer buying decisions through forums and direct engagements
-
Grow Lafarge’s share of wallet based on market-specific ambitions

Conduct retail mapping and territory realignment when needed

Contribute to the design and implementation of customer loyalty programs

Gather and report market intelligence promptly and accurately

Maintain high standards in quality, customer service, and safety

Strengthen dealer/retailer relationships and drive brand endorsement

Coordinate sales and operations for best-in-class retail execution

Ensure team adherence to CRM tools and ERP processes

Enforce compliance with business policies and procedures

Safeguard company assets within the assigned territory

Implement HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) actions

Develop in-depth market knowledge and competitive insights

Provide leadership, coaching, and development to the sales team
