President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his scheduled trip to South Africa and Angola to receive further security briefings on the kidnapping of schoolgirls in Kebbi State and the deadly attack on worshippers in Eruku, Kwara State.
The President was expected to depart Abuja today for Johannesburg to attend the 20th G20 Summit of Leaders and thereafter proceed to Luanda, Angola, for the 7th AU–EU Summit. However, “disturbed by the security breaches” in the two northern states, he opted to suspend his departure.
In response to a request from the Governor of Kwara State, President Tinubu has also ordered the deployment of additional security personnel to Eruku and the entire Ekiti Local Government Area of the state. He also directed the Nigeria Police Force to “go after the bandits who attacked worshippers” at Christ Apostolic Church, Eruku, on Tuesday.

Reiterating his earlier stance, President Tinubu renewed his directive to security agencies to “do everything possible” to rescue the 24 schoolgirls still in captivity and ensure their safe return to their families.
