Match Report

Crystal Palace started with a bang as Nketiah scored in the match’s first minute, only to be sadly ruled offside. Liverpool dominated play in the rest of the first half of the game.

The game’s only goal came from Tsimikas putting Gakpo away on the left-hand side of the field. The winger crossed to find Jota, whose movement in the box was brilliant. Who did a smart finish to put the ball through the goalkeeper’s leg and score. Liverpool lead nine minutes into the game.

Liverpool threatened to get away with the game as they dominated the first half of the match with attack after attack. To the fortune of Palace, they couldn’t convert their opportunities.

Crystal Palace had a much better showing in the second half of the game. They showed more attacking intent and created multiple chances, but their continued woes of poor finishing prevented them from scoring.

Their best chance came in the 83rd minute when Hughes won the ball in the middle of the pitch and set Eze up on the left side of the field. Eze ended up in a one-on-one with the keeper. He had plenty of areas to aim for but missed the chance by striking straight at the goalkeeper.

Liverpool’s biggest scare in the second half was Alisson going down with pain after clearing an oncoming ball. He was substituted after what looked like a hamstring injury. Kelleher, their regular number 2, was not available this weekend, thus giving Jaros a chance to play.

‘Liverpool top of the league‘ was sung by the away end fans as this win gave Liverpool a 4-point lead at the Premier League table. Arne Slot and the team would be glad to have the buffer against Manchester City and Arsenal.

Crystal Palace would again be ruing their missed opportunities as they continue to languish in the bottom three of the table.
