Interswitch Group is seeking a Vice President, Channel Acquiring to lead the strategic direction, growth, and performance of its channel acquiring business. This role sits at the heart of Nigeria’s digital payments ecosystem and is responsible for expanding merchant acceptance, scaling agent networks, and driving sustainable revenue growth across multiple acquiring channels.
The successful candidate will combine deep payments industry expertise with strong leadership, commercial judgment, and execution discipline to strengthen Interswitch’s position as a market leader in digital transactions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Growth

Define and execute the long-term strategy for the Channel Acquiring business, aligned with corporate objectives.

Drive growth across revenue, merchant acquisition, agent expansion, and active customer metrics.

Identify emerging customer needs and market opportunities, translating them into scalable acquiring solutions.

Track performance against KPIs and ensure timely execution through cross-functional collaboration.
Merchant & Agent Ecosystem Development

Build, maintain, and expand a nationwide merchant ecosystem across in-store, MSME, and industry segments.

Grow and optimise the agent acquiring network to improve reach, transaction volumes, and service quality.

Strengthen relationships with high-value merchants, aggregators, and strategic partners.
Team Leadership & Capability Building

Lead and mentor teams across In-store Acquiring, Agent Acquiring, Industry Acquiring, and MSME Acquiring.

Set clear performance goals and foster a culture of accountability, customer-centricity, and high performance.

Work closely with sales, marketing, product, engineering, operations, and finance teams to deliver a seamless end-to-end customer experience.
Product Strategy & Innovation

Oversee the design, development, and rollout of new acquiring products and services.

Conduct market and competitive analysis to anticipate trends, customer pain points, and regulatory shifts.

Develop business cases and pricing models that enhance product competitiveness and profitability.

Ensure effective adoption and deployment of new solutions across target segments.
Operational Excellence & Compliance

Support sales teams with high-quality leads and sector-specific insights.

Ensure smooth merchant and agent onboarding, transaction processing, and ongoing support.

Maintain full compliance with industry regulations, internal controls, and audit requirements.

Oversee reporting and dashboards to monitor revenue, acquisition, retention, and operational efficiency.
External Partnerships & Stakeholder Management

Identify, develop, and manage strategic partnerships that strengthen the acquiring value proposition.

Collaborate with external stakeholders to co-create innovative, market-leading payment solutions.
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree or HND required.
-
MBA or MSc is an added advantage.
Experience & Skills
-
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the financial technology or payments industry.

At least 4 years in a senior managerial or leadership role.

Strong understanding of the payments ecosystem, including merchant acquiring and agency banking.

Proven track record in scaling businesses, leading large teams, and delivering commercial results.
