Meta Unveils AI Voice Translation for Reels on Instagram and Facebook

Meta AI Voice Translation for Reels on Instagram and Facebook

Meta

Meta has rolled out an exciting new AI-driven feature that allows creators on Instagram and Facebook to translate their Reels into different languages, starting with English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English. This free tool uses advanced generative AI to dub videos in a way that preserves the creator’s natural voice tone, while an optional lip-sync feature aligns mouth movements for a polished, authentic look. The goal is to help creators connect with a broader global audience by breaking down language barriers.

How Creators Can Use It

Before sharing a Reel, creators can select the “Translate your voice with Meta AI” option to enable voice dubbing and decide whether to include lip-syncing. They have the flexibility to preview and approve translations, ensuring complete control over the final content. The original Reel remains unchanged, and creators can toggle the feature on or off at any time. Viewers will see Reels in their preferred language, with a small note indicating the use of Meta AI for translation. They can also disable translations for specific languages through their settings.

Eligibility?

This feature is available to all public Instagram accounts and Facebook creators with at least 1,000 followers in regions where Meta AI is supported. For additional flexibility, Facebook creators can manually upload up to 20 dubbed audio tracks via the Meta Business Suite, allowing them to cater to audiences beyond English and Spanish speakers.

Global Reach?

A new analytics tool in the Insights panel lets creators see how many views their Reels receive in each language, offering valuable data on how translations are expanding their reach. This is particularly useful for creators looking to grow their audience across diverse markets.

Tips for Best Results

To ensure high-quality translations, Meta suggests:

– Recording face-to-camera videos with clear, unobstructed speech.
– Limiting videos to two speakers on Facebook, avoiding overlapping dialogue.
– Reducing background noise and music for clearer audio processing.

What’s Next?

This feature is set to expand with support for more languages, though Meta has not yet shared specifics on which languages or when they’ll be added. The company’s ongoing efforts to refine its AI capabilities signal a commitment to making social media more inclusive and accessible.

By enabling creators to share their stories with audiences worldwide, Meta’s AI translation tool marks a significant step toward fostering cross-cultural connections on its platforms.
