Kazakhstani tennis player Yulia Putintseva is set to face Wimbledon champion Markéta Vondroušová in the second round of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open on February 5, 2025. This marks their fourth meeting, with Vondroušová leading their head-to-head record 2-1.

Putintseva, currently ranked 21st in the world, achieved a career milestone by breaking into the top 20 at the age of 30. However, a period of inactivity following the Australian Open caused a slight dip in her ranking.

In her most recent Grand Slam appearance at the Australian Open, Putintseva was defeated in the first round by Daria Kasatkina.

Yulia was born to parents Anton Putintsev and Anna Putintseva and has a brother named Ilya. Introduced to sports by her father, she began practicing tennis at the Spartak Tennis Club in Moscow. After winning an under-14 event, she moved to Paris to train at the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy. In June 2012, she started representing Kazakhstan in professional tennis.

Professional Career

Putintseva turned professional in 2009. She has secured three singles titles on the WTA Tour and reached the quarterfinals in Grand Slam tournaments three times: twice at the French Open (2016, 2018) and once at the US Open (2020). Her favorite playing surface is clay, and she idolized players Martina Hingis and Justine Henin during her formative years.

As of January 2025, Yulia Putintseva has accumulated career prize money totaling approximately $8.7 million. Her net worth is estimated to be around $7 million, which includes earnings from endorsements and sponsorships.
