Former Governor of Abia State, Peter Obi has again decried poor leadership in Nigeria, stating the government is littered with people devoid of integrity.
Mr Obi, who spoke at the 4th graduation ceremony of Nexford University on Saturday, said poor leaders have turned Nigeria into a crime scene, emphasising the urgent need for good leadership in order to drive the country forward.
“When we talk about vices, don’t think it’s just the yahoo boys on the streets”, the former noted, urging graduates to become drivers of positive change.
“The truth is, there are more yahoo people in government than outside it because we’ve turned the entire country into a crime scene, with people both inside and outside stealing.”
Stating that quality leadership is not rocket science, Mr Obi further urged the graduating students to be of good character and leverage their knowledge to change the country for good.
“It’s not rocket science, but it’s not easy. It’s about having a strong character and resisting the temptation to do wrong. You’ve gained knowledge today—use it to help change society. You’re victims of a system where past generations have failed to do what is right, and now you’re bearing the consequences.”
