Video: $18.7M Bugatti La Voiture Noire—The World’s Most Expensive Non-Vintage Car

Tagged the most expensive new car ever bought, Bugatti’s La Voiture Noire has been sold for $18.7 million to an anonymous male buyer who had placed his order even before the car was made.

The supercar, the only one of its kind, was created to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary by making a reference to Bugatti’s early beginnings. In the 1930s, Jean Bugatti (son of founder, Ettore Bugatti) developed four Type 57 SC Atlantic coupes. One of them was named the La Voiture Noire, and the world’s most expensive new car is essentially a recreation of the coupe.
