President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The nomination, officially forwarded to the Senate for confirmation, fills the vacancy left by Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, who became the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in July after serving as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area, Doro’s multidisciplinary expertise spans clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, and strategic leadership.
His professional journey cuts across the UK and Nigeria, with extensive experience in both public health systems and private sector initiatives.
Doro holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, alongside an MBA specializing in IT-driven business strategy and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice. His academic and professional background aligns with Nigeria’s growing emphasis on evidence-based policy and technology-driven governance.
As an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner within the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), Doro worked across urgent care, walk-in centres, GP practices, and hospitals.
His practical healthcare experience positions him to contribute meaningfully to public sector reforms, particularly in health, technology integration, and social policy.
Beyond medicine, Doro has led youth mentorship and social impact programs across the diaspora and Nigeria. His appointment signals a potential blend of global expertise and local engagement, a direction that aligns with Tinubu’s vision of a performance-driven cabinet.
