Àlárí

Àlárí for Pinceto exhibition at The Fashion Souk

Àlárí was founded by Tolu Pinheiro. The brand has been in the business for just a year, making handcrafted items – bags, baskets, purses, and clutches all created with inspiration and passion. A lifestyle brand, Pinheiro also makes headlamps, and ceramic pots for flowers/plants-these are also handmade.

According to Tolu Pinheiro, the brand name, Alari, in Yoruba simply means “I see my dreams”. Having felt like she was the last person to go into the fashion business, she found herself collecting aso oke and thought “why not use this clothing material to make bags”.

Along the line, she found herself being inspired by the color velvet. Tolu is Catholic by faith and she found out that whenever she was at mass the velvet decorations were really beautiful. She combines the Yoruba aso oke, with velvet to create signature beautiful pieces.

Alari is on sustainability. The brand reuses a lot of recyclable materials.
