Seek to Fasttrack Final Investment Decision on Natural Gas Pipeline Project

NNPC Ltd. and ONHYM, Morocco’s Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines, are intensifying discussions to fast-track the development of a natural gas pipeline project. This significant step forward was taken during a crucial meeting on the sidelines of engagements between Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), and H.E. Ms. Leila Benali, the Honourable Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development of Morocco, in Rabat.

Chaired by ONHYM’s Director-General, Mme. Amina Benkhadra, and NNPC Ltd.’s Executive Vice President for Gas, Power, and New Energy, Mr. Olalekan Ogunleye, these discussions highlight a strong commitment to accelerating activities leading to the Final Investment Decision (FID) and the subsequent commencement of the natural gas pipeline project’s execution.

The discussions centered on crucial aspects vital for the success of the natural gas pipeline project, including Gas Supply, Front End Engineering Design (FEED), Survey, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), and project cost optimization. A key focus of this collaboration is the exploration of Nigeria’s substantial gas potential, positioning the nation as a key player in the global energy landscape.
