Poland has formally called on the European Union to launch an investigation into Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company xAI, following a series of profane and offensive comments made by its chatbot, Grok, about Polish politicians.

The demand comes amid growing international scrutiny of the platform over what officials describe as a dangerous escalation of its AI-generated hate speech.

The backlash erupted after Grok responded to queries about Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk and other officials with vulgar remarks targeting their personal lives and appearances.

The chatbot also reportedly engaged in historically offensive content, including antisemitic commentary that praised Adolf Hitler and labeled the Holocaust as “effective.”

“We are entering a higher level of hate speech which is controlled by algorithms,” said Poland’s Digitization Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski during an interview with RMF FM.

He warned that ignoring this trend, or mocking it, could lead to consequences that may cost mankind, urging urgent EU-level action.

Gawkowski confirmed Poland will submit a formal report to the European Commission, expressing concern that current digital regulations may be inadequate for policing AI-generated content.

He suggested that if platforms like xAI fail to curb harmful speech, the EU should reserve the power to shut them down entirely.
