Pan-Atlantic University (PAU), one of Nigeria’s leading private academic institutions, has announced the promotion of six senior academics to the rank of professor.
The appointments, approved by the university’s governing council, reflect a growing emphasis on institutional rigour and international relevance as PAU deepens its presence in fields ranging from business and media to science and technology policy.
“These appointments are not only a recognition of individual excellence but also a testament to our commitment to research-led teaching, interdisciplinary scholarship, and public service,” the university said in a statement.
Professor Nelson Okorie
A specialist in media and communication, Okorie has been instrumental in advancing discourse around the role of digital media in development and democratic governance. His work is noted for bridging theory and practice in the evolving landscape of strategic communication.
Professor Okechukwu E. Amah
A leadership and organisational behaviour scholar, Amah’s research explores the intersection of workplace psychology and African management systems. He has played a leading role in shaping the human resource management curriculum at PAU’s business school.
Professor Franklin Nnaemeka Ngwu
Ngwu, who holds a PhD in law and development, is a prominent voice in corporate governance and sustainability in emerging markets. His research often addresses the regulatory challenges facing African economies and the global competitiveness of local firms.
Professor Olusegun Vincent, PhD, FCA, ACIT
Vincent is a chartered accountant and authority in financial reporting, corporate taxation, and auditing. He has contributed to national discourse on IFRS implementation and public financial accountability. A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, he also sits on key advisory committees at PAU.
Professor Norbert Edomah
One of Nigeria’s leading energy scholars, Edomah’s research focuses on energy policy, urban infrastructure, and sustainable development. He has secured competitive research funding from international bodies, including Innovate UK and the European Union, positioning PAU as a hub for energy transition studies in West Africa.
Professor Sola Oni
Currently Dean of the School of Management and Social Sciences, Oni has led transformative curriculum reforms and faculty development programmes. Her research spans economics, public policy, and development studies, with a particular focus on institutional resilience in low- and middle-income countries.
The promotions come at a time when PAU is seeking to elevate its profile as a research-intensive university with global partnerships. Founded in 2002 and closely affiliated with the Lagos Business School, the university has increasingly attracted attention for its disciplined academic culture and ethical foundations.
“Our goal is to produce not only scholars of international standing but also intellectual leaders who shape practice and policy in Africa and beyond,” a senior university official said.
The newly appointed professors are expected to play pivotal roles in mentoring early-career academics, expanding PAU’s research networks, and contributing to national conversations on governance, education, and economic reform.
