Oracle Partners with AMD to Bring Next-Gen AI Chips to Its Cloud Services

Oracle has announced plans to integrate AMD’s upcoming MI450 artificial intelligence (AI) processors into its cloud services, marking a major step in its strategy to expand high-performance computing capacity for AI-driven applications.

The collaboration will see Oracle deploy an initial batch of 50,000 MI450 chips starting in the third quarter of 2026, with further expansion planned for 2027 and beyond. The move positions Oracle as one of AMD’s largest cloud partners, enhancing its ability to handle large-scale AI workloads and support advanced model training.

The partnership also gives AMD a stronger foothold in the competitive AI chip market, where it continues to challenge rivals like Nvidia. Oracle’s deployment of AMD’s cutting-edge hardware will be supported by the company’s “Helios” rack architecture — designed to efficiently power AI superclusters and reduce energy consumption.

AMD recently deepened its role in the AI ecosystem through a supply deal with OpenAI, which includes an option for OpenAI to acquire up to a 10% stake in the chipmaker.

The new Oracle–AMD partnership underscores a growing industry trend: cloud providers aligning with chipmakers to meet skyrocketing demand for AI computing infrastructure.
