Nigeria’s leading fintech platform, OPay, has released an official communication addressing the service disruption experienced by users earlier today.
In the statement shared across its channels, the company explained that an ongoing system maintenance upgrade affected access to several of its services, including transactions on the OPay app.
According to the notice, the interruption was linked to an external issue that has now been completely resolved.
OPay assured customers that full platform stability has been restored and emphasized that its technical team worked promptly to minimize the downtime.
The company also apologized for the inconvenience caused, thanking users for their patience and understanding during the disruption.
The message further reiterated that OPay operates as a licensed Mobile Money Operator under the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and is insured by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).
Today’s outage had prompted widespread concern among users, with many reporting transaction delays and temporary inability to access their accounts.
With service now fully restored, OPay says normal operations have resumed across all channels.
