Nvidia has teamed up with Abu Dhabi’s Technology Innovation Institute (TII) to launch a joint research laboratory in the United Arab Emirates. This new facility marks the inaugural Nvidia AI Technology Center (NVAITC) in the Middle East, aiming to pioneer advanced AI models and robotics platforms.
The collaboration integrates Nvidia’s cutting-edge accelerated computing technologies with TII’s extensive expertise in multidisciplinary AI research.
As part of the agreement, TII will gain access to specialized edge GPU chips, including the innovative Thor chip, to enhance its work on robotics systems such as humanoids, quadruped robots, and robotic arms.
TII, which serves as the applied research division of Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council, is at the forefront of the UAE’s ambitious drive to become a global leader in AI.
The joint lab, located in Abu Dhabi, will explore AI applications across key sectors including climate science, energy, genomics, transportation, and logistics. Teams from both organizations will collaborate on-site, with plans to expand staffing for the initiative.
This partnership builds on the UAE’s substantial investments in AI infrastructure, leveraging strong U.S. ties to access advanced technologies amid the global AI surge.
The TII-NVAITC Joint Lab represents a milestone in regional innovation, fostering next-generation solutions in AI and robotics.
