The invitation to apply was contained in a recent publication made by the bank on its website.

Origin of NOVA Bank

At inception in 2018, NOVA Bank was known as NOVA Merchant Bank. As a merchant bank, NOVA specialized in financial advisory, debt and equity capital raising, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), portfolio management, and trade financing.

Transition Into a Commercial Bank

Following its transition into a commercial bank in June 2024, with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s approval, NOVA expanded its operations. NOVA opened its first commercial banking branch in Victoria Island (VI), Lagos shortly after the approval was given.

The bank has also announced plans to open additional branches in other parts of Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Kano as part of the bank’s “phygital” strategy.

NOVA’s “phygital” strategy combines physical locations with advanced digital banking services to promote financial inclusion, support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and deliver innovative banking solutions.

NOVA Graduate Trainee Program

The NOVA Bank Graduate Trainee Program aims to nurture the next generation of banking professionals. This program targets fresh graduates, providing them with an intensive curriculum designed by industry experts.

Through this curriculum, participants are exposed  to global banking practices, leadership training, and expertise in technology-driven banking environments.

Over the course of one year, trainees receive mentorship and are encouraged to bring innovative ideas that align with NOVA’s vision of advancing financial services.

This initiative supports NOVA’s transition into commercial banking by helping the bank secure the needed manpower while setting participants on a path to a rewarding career in the financial sector.
