NNPCL Cuts Petrol Price to N815, N79 Higher Than MRS/Dangote Price

NNPCL Slashes Fuel Price

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has implemented another reduction in petrol prices, bringing Premium Motor Spirit down to N815 per litre at its retail outlets across the Federal Capital Territory.

The latest price adjustment represents a N20 decrease from the previous rate of N835 per litre.

Observations from multiple NNPCL stations in Abuja on Monday morning confirmed the new pricing structure is now in effect.

Retail outlets in Wuse Zones 4 and 6, along the Keffi-Abuja Road, and on Kubwa Expressway have all adopted the reduced rate.

A station attendant, speaking on condition of anonymity, indicated that the price change took effect Sunday evening.

Despite this reduction, NNPCL’s current price remains N79 higher than the N739 per litre being offered at MRS filling stations nationwide, which are supplied by the Dangote Refinery.

This marks the second major price reduction by NNPCL in recent weeks.

On December 19, 2025, the state oil company lowered its petrol price by N80 to N835 per litre, responding to intensifying competition in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.

The price adjustments follow the Dangote Refinery’s strategic move to reduce its gantry price to N699 per litre, sparking increased competition among fuel retailers across the country.

Industry observers suggest this price war could bring relief to Nigerian consumers who have faced volatile fuel costs in recent months.

The ongoing price competition reflects significant shifts in Nigeria’s petroleum distribution landscape, with domestic refining capacity beginning to influence market dynamics previously dominated by imported products.
