The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has issued a warning to Nigerians about the dangers of using unapproved websites to modify their National Identification Number (NIN) data.
In a statement released on Monday, March 10, 2025, the commission emphasized that such actions could lead to severe consequences, including identity theft and the compromise of sensitive personal information. The commission concluded its statement with a firm directive: Nigerians must rely solely on the official NIMC self-service portal for all NIN updates and avoid the temptation of unauthorized alternatives. “To prevent potential risks and safeguard your identity, use only the official channel,” Adegoke reiterated.
