Nigerian Security Startup Terrahaptix Raises $22M to Scale Drone Production

Terrahaptix funding raise

Autonomous security startup Terrahaptix has secured an additional $22 million in fresh funding to accelerate production of surveillance and protection systems designed for critical infrastructure across Africa.

The round was led by Lux Capital, with participation from Resilience17 Capital, founded by Olugbenga Agboola. Earlier investors, including 8VC and Nova Global, also joined the round, which closed in under two weeks.

The new capital comes shortly after the company, formerly Terra Industries, earlier raised $11.8 million, underscoring growing investor interest in locally built defense and security technologies.

Chief Executive Officer Nathan Nwachukwu said the latest raise exceeded expectations, noting the firm initially targeted only a fraction of the amount secured. He added that proceeds will fund expansion of the company’s manufacturing facility in Abuja, where production capacity is projected to reach 40,000 drones annually.

Terrahaptix also plans to begin construction of a second defense megafactory within weeks to meet rising demand from government and military clients. According to Nwachukwu, increased traction in public-sector contracts has created urgency to scale operations.

He said the investment will accelerate the company’s ambition to strengthen Africa’s technological capabilities in counterterrorism and infrastructure protection, positioning locally developed systems as competitive alternatives in the global security technology market.
