Nigerian Comedian Ali Baba Evicted from N220 Million Victoria Island Property After Court Ruling

Nigerian Comedian Ali Baba Evicted from N220 Million Victoria Island Property

Veteran Nigerian comedian Ali Baba

Veteran Nigerian comedian Ali Baba has been forcibly evicted from his Victoria Island property in Lagos State following a Federal High Court ruling.

The eviction, executed on August 15, 2025, also affected his media company XQZMOI TV, marking the end of a complex legal battle over the luxury real estate asset.

The controversial property was initially sold to Ali Baba for N220 million in 2021 through the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).

AMCON claimed the sale was necessary to recover alleged debts owed by Harold Expansion Industries Nigeria Limited, the property’s original owner.

Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa delivered a decisive ruling on July 31, 2025, dismissing AMCON’s case for lack of evidence. The Federal High Court found that AMCON failed to substantiate its debt recovery claims against Harold Expansion Industries Nigeria Limited.

The court’s judgment extended beyond property restitution, ordering the return of the asset to its original owner. Additionally, Justice Lewis-Allagoa imposed a substantial N500 million fine in damages against AMCON for the wrongful sale.

Ali Baba’s involvement in the dispute originated from his previous relationship with the property as a tenant.

Reports indicate the comedian purchased the Victoria Island asset while legal proceedings were active, despite an existing court preservation order that should have prevented the transaction.
