First Bank 2019 Agric Expo

First Bank of Nigeria Limited held its 3rd Agric Expo on Friday, 30 August 2019 at Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island Lagos. The event has become a major fixture in the calendar for agriculture policy dialogue in Nigeria. The third edition of the First Bank Agric Expo was themed “Agriculture Value Chain: Spotlighting Opportunities and Managing Risks”. As part of the Expo, specialists conducted Masterclasses on Agriculture Export, Agriculture Innovations and Agriculture Input and Mechanization that are intended to boost the capacity to innovate, process and package Nigerian agricultural produce for export. First Bank has lent over N100 billion to commercial farmers under the FGN/CBN Commercial Agriculture Credit Scheme, supporting 108 projects (23%) out of a total of 509 projects supported by all banks under the scheme.

1. Alltech Coppens

Dutch Manufacturers of premium catfish feeds which are specially formulated for newly hatched fish. Alltech Coppens distributes its products all over Nigeria with major offices in Port Harcourt, Aba, Abuja, Ibadan and Lagos. Alltech Coppens products are essential inputs into Nigeria’s growing fish production industry. 2. Spectra Industries Limited

 

Spectra transforms cocoa into pure cocoa powder. Their products are targeted at health-conscious people and are also recommended for managing diabetes, asthma, blood pressure and insomnia. The First Bank 2019 Agric Expo was a good platform for Spectra Industries Limited to expose its products to more Nigerians.

3. AFEX Commodities Exchange

 

Afex Commodities Exchange offers services to farmers and large buyers of agriculture products. It provides warehouse storage and quality and quantity management services to farmers. Afex also helps farmers access financing and connects them to big buyers. Afex thinks the First Bank 2019 Agric Expo is helping to strengthen linkages in the agriculture value chain in Nigeria.

4. Wonderfully Special Limited

 

Wonderfully Special Limited supports snail farming, supplying feed and equipment for breeding snails. The company manufactures D-Agro, an organic fertilizer for growing vegetables and also supports the production of pharmaceutical products and cosmetics from snail slime. According to Mr. U Ukonu, Managing Director of Wonderfully Special Limited, a litre of the slime of a mature snail is worth 40 Euros. He says the First Bank 2019 Agric Expo is helping demonstrate the forex-earning potential of agro-processing industries like snail farming.

5. Dangote Fertilizer

Dangote Fertilizer is one of the largest granulated urea fertilizer complexes in the world, set to debut in the market by the end of 2019. The company will make a big difference to Nigerian agriculture by supporting farmers with technical services such as soil test which determines how fertilizers could be effectively used. The First Bank 2019 Agric Expo has afforded Dangote Fertilizer to further interact with famers and get useful feedback on its products and services.

6. Zainab Farms Group of Companies

 

Zainab is a multifaceted farming business and agro-processing company. The company processes Acha (flour-like food consumed in the northern part of Nigeria), cashew nuts, natural oat, grains, smoked fish and Ofada rice. It is also into fish breeding and cattle rearing. The First Bank 2019 Agric Expo was a wonderful opportunity to showcase Zainab Group’s wide array of food brands.

7. Flour Mills Nigeria

 

Flour Mills is one of Nigeria’s biggest buyers of agricultural produce and food processors. The company’s many brands include cassava flakes, garri, semovita, bread spread, groundnut oil, flour, noodles etc. products. Flour Mills thinks the First Bank 2019 Agric Expo is supporting the Federal Government’s agenda to diversify Nigerian economy and exports.

8. Nazo Agro-allied Ventures

Nazo Agro-allied Ventures distributes Massey Ferguson tractors and farm implements in Nigeria. The First Bank 2019 Agric Expo has enabled the company to contribute to the dialogue on creating access to modern farming equipment for the bulk of Nigerian farmers.
