Manchester City were defeated 3-1 by Norweigan side Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League group phase on Tuesday evening.
This comes after suffering a 2-0 loss to city rivals Manchester United over the weekend.
The Norwegian side seized control early as Kasper Høgh scored twice in the first half, giving the hosts a surprising 2–0 lead against a City side that dominated possession but struggled to break down Bodø/Glimt’s disciplined defence. Jens Petter Hauge extended the advantage in the second half with a composed finish.
City mounted a response when Rayan Cherki pulled a goal back shortly after Hauge’s strike, offering a glimmer of hope. However, the visitors’ efforts were dealt a significant blow when captain Rodri was sent off after receiving two quick yellow cards, leaving Manchester City with ten men for the closing stages.
The result marks Bodø/Glimt’s first ever win in the Champions League proper and stands as a historic moment for the club, which had previously struggled to secure victories at this level.
For Manchester City, the defeat adds pressure in the group stage after a difficult couple of weeks that included a Premier League loss in the Manchester derby. Guardiola’s side now face a crucial remainder of the group phase where they must secure results to maintain hopes of advancing as they remain in fourth, ahead of hosting Galatasaray next week.
