Managing Director (Anambra) Needed at PwC Nigeria

PwC’s client is a key driver of economic development in Anambra State. This Agency is dedicated to facilitating and promoting investments that enhance economic growth and development. The Agency is currently transforming to expand its scope to include project development, design, and financing. They seek a qualified and competent individual to fill the role of Managing Director to lead and drive their strategic initiatives.

Role Summary

The (MD) will be responsible for the overall strategic direction, administration, and operational management of the Agency. The role requires a dynamic leader with a proven track record in investment promotion, economic development, and public administration to drive the investment and growth priorities of the Agency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic plans and policies to attract investments, provide visionary leadership, and identify key sectors for development.
  • Identify, initiate, and market projects, coordinate investment activities, and maintain a pipeline of potential investors through promotional activities.
  • Liaise with investors and government bodies, act as the primary contact for investors, negotiate incentives, and build relationships with business communities and financial institutions.
  • Oversee daily administration, manage the state’s investment portfolio, ensure compliance with laws, and implement best practices in governance and risk management.
  • Prepare annual budgets, maintain proper accounts, manage funds, and optimise financial performance.
  • Submit annual reports, provide regular updates on performance, and ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Advise the government on policy matters and advocate for policies that promote investment and economic growth.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, stay updated on global trends, and implement new technologies to enhance effectiveness.
  • Leverage technology to improve investment processes, promote digital tools, and develop strategies for digital and technological investments.
  • Identify and promote investments in renewable energy, agritech, fintech, healthcare, biotechnology, and smart cities.

Required Experience and Capabilities

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Law, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional qualification in a relevant discipline will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ cognate experience in project development, investment promotion, economic development, or a related field.
  • Experience in investment banking and working in a development finance institution (DFI) will be an added advantage
  • Proven track record of leadership and management in a similar role.
  • Experience in working with government agencies, international organisations, and private sector investors development finance institutions and investment banks.
