Communications Officer at Partnership Of Justice
The partnership of Justice is looking for an enthusiastic Communications Officer to manage the external and internal communications for the Nigerian Human Rights Defenders Network; promote a positive public image and control the dissemination of information on the Network’s behalf. They will create engaging content across various social media platforms for the network. This role is hybrid and interested candidates must be open to travel for activities.
• Develop and manage a Brand communication strategy for the Nigerian Human Rights Defenders Network (NHRDN)
• Create and manage internal communications (memos, newsletters etc.)
• Draft content (e.g. press releases) for mass and social media or Network website
• Develop and implement communications strategies and work plans, campaigns, events, and other initiatives to support the Network’s goals.
• Update all activities with corresponding photos on all NHRDN social media pages.
• Work actively with the programme team of the Network and its secretariat
• Draw up a monthly social media schedule to be submitted for review two (2) days before the beginning of a new month.
• Write and submit end-of-month reports consisting of a summary of challenges faced within a particular month and recommendations for the new month.
• Respond appropriately to all direct enquiries and refer to the appropriate staff, when needed.
• Oversee the Network’s communications programs, prepare media briefings and engagements, and be responsible for the Network’s communication with different target audiences.
• Organize initiatives and plan events or press conferences
• Liaise with media and handle requests for interviews, statements etc.• Foster relationships with advocates and key persons
• Assist in the communication of strategies or messages from senior leadership
▪ Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
▪ Minimum of 2 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a similar role. Experience in managing communications for non-profit organizations or in a similar sector is a plus.
▪ Knowledge of human rights and human rights defenders is mandatory.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in using social media platforms and content management systems (CMS)
• Experience with media relations, including crafting press releases and managing media inquiries.
• Ability to develop and implement communication strategies and campaigns.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
• Experience with graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc)
