‘I Started Smoking at 13’ — Tonto Dikeh Full Testimony at Streams of Joy

Popular Nollywood actress and philanthropist Tonto Dikeh has shared one of the most raw and revealing testimonies of her life, leaving many in tears during a service at Streams of Joy International, led by Pastor Jerry Eze.

The testimony, which has since sparked massive reactions online, went far beyond a typical church account, as the actress opened up about decades-long struggles with addiction, rage, spiritual bondage, and physical affliction—many of which had never been publicly discussed before.

“I Almost Didn’t Share This Testimony”

Tonto Dikeh began by revealing that she nearly stopped herself from speaking, admitting she felt pressured to “protect her image.”

However, she said she had a spiritual awakening that made her realize that any image she has was given by God and could be taken away just as easily.

She described the experience as a spiritual battle, stating that fear and pride tried to silence her, but she chose obedience over reputation.

Salvation as a Turning Point, Not a Repetition

One of the most powerful revelations was her declaration that this experience with salvation marked a final turning point, not just another religious moment.

According to her, while she had encountered God before, this time was different because she intentionally chose to run towards God rather than away from Him during pain—breaking a pattern that had defined much of her life.

She described God as “El Roi — the God who sees me,” emphasizing a deeply personal relationship that reshaped her identity.

The “Demonic Anger” She Says Nearly Destroyed Her Life

In a rarely reported portion of the testimony, Tonto Dikeh spoke openly about living with what she described as uncontrollable and destructive anger.

She used vivid imagery to explain how rage pushed her into self-destructive behavior, burned bridges, and ruined relationships, admitting that it affected everyone around her.

She testified that the anger has now been replaced with peace—something she said she had never truly experienced before.

Addiction From Age 13: Smoking, Alcohol, and Shame

One of the most searched and discussed parts of the testimony involves her honest confession about substance abuse.

She revealed that:

She began smoking at age 13

She struggled with chronic alcoholism, consuming up to two large bottles of vodka daily

She often drank alone at home to hide the habit

She also issued a strong warning to parents, stating that habits practiced openly in the home can unknowingly become entry points for generational bondage.

According to her, the turning point came when she asked God for help she could not give herself.

She described an unusual transformation where shame—not willpower—became the tool God used to break the addiction completely.

She testified that she no longer struggles, cravings have stopped, and her body now rejects alcohol and cigarettes entirely.

Healing From Sexual Bondage and Private Struggles

In another section rarely mentioned in blogs, Tonto Dikeh spoke about deliverance from long-term sexual struggles, including issues that began in childhood and followed her into adulthood.

She credited divine intervention—not therapy or personal effort—for her freedom, stating that these battles ended without relapse.

20 Years of Pain Gone in One Moment

Perhaps one of the most astonishing revelations was her testimony of physical healing.

She shared that she suffered from chronic back pain for over 20 years, a condition so severe that massage centers across Abuja reportedly knew her by name.

She explained that while praying during the Ghana Prayer Conference, she was focused on emotional pain, unaware that God was simultaneously healing her body.

The following day, she realized the pain was completely gone.

After attempting movements that usually triggered discomfort, she confirmed that the pain had vanished entirely.

A Confession About Altars and Spiritual Misalignment

In a deeply introspective moment, Tonto Dikeh admitted that in her search for survival and success, she had aligned herself with spiritual spaces and practices she now believes were never ordained by God.

She described staying on “altars she didn’t belong to” out of ignorance and desperation, adding that understanding who she belongs to has now redefined her life.
