- CFAs Open for the Inaugural AU Media Fellowship
Application for the inaugural African Union Media Fellowship is now open. The fellowship is aimed at experienced journalists who seek to make a change in reporting on Africa, raising awareness and breaking stereotypes.
Fellowship Programme
The Fellowship programme will kick-off with a study tour and capacity building workshops. The 20 selected fellows will benefit from direct access to various African Union leadership, and have the opportunity for on-the-ground reporting on the AU’s work around the agenda 2063 strategic aspirations.

Eligibility Criteria
- The AU Media Fellowship is open to journalists, bloggers, vloggers, content creators, and podcasters living on the continent or the diaspora.
- Fellows must be actively involved in innovative media either as a journalist or related field of work for at least three years with a demonstrable impact – driven track record.
- All applicants for the AU Media Fellowship must be working journalists with at least three years of full-time, professional journalism experience or in a related field.

- Future of Work Africa 2022
The Village Capital, in partnership with Moody’s Foundation is seeking applications for Future of Work 2022 to support entrepreneurs across Africa that are building for-profit, market-based solutions in education, employment, and benefits that could help young people in Sub-Saharan Africa, better prepare for the future of work, access more and better employment opportunities, and build careers.
Future of Work 2022 is looking to support 45 startups across the region with investment readiness training through: a core cohort of 10-12 startups, and an expanded cohort of 33-35 startups featuring self-guided training, extensive virtual support and engagement with mentors. The program supports impact-focused startups leveraging highly sensitive data to improve the quality, and access to digital, financial and healthcare services.

- Small Grants Programme on Plastic Waste
The Basel & Stockholm Conventions Regional Centre has announced a Small Grant Program (SGP) on Plastic Waste to improve the management of plastic waste in partner countries and thus contribute towards preventing and significantly reducing marine pollution.

- IDRC-FCDO Call for Concept Notes: Climate Adaptation and Resilience
The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) are pleased to announce a call for concept notes under the Climate Adaptation and Resilience (CLARE) initiative.
Funding Information
There are two sizes of funding available for this call. Smaller projects for grants up to CAD 1.5 million, and larger projects for grants between CAD 6-8 million. Project duration will not exceed 42 months.
Eligibility Criteria
The following eligibility criteria apply:
- This call is open to projects involving activities in African or Asian-Pacific countries
- An organization may participate in more than one concept note, yet an individual principal investigator may only lead on one project.
- This call is open to projects that are gender and inclusion-sensitive, gender and inclusion-responsive or gender and inclusion-transformative.
- Proposals that are gender-blind will not be considered eligible.

- 2022 International Cooperation Social Call for Proposals
The “la Caixa” Foundation is pleased to announce the 2022 International to announce the 2022 International Cooperation Social call to fight against poverty and inequalities, focusing action mainly on the most vulnerable individuals and families, with the aim of contributing to improving their living conditions and facilitating comprehensive development and social inclusion processes.
This call is aimed at generating opportunities to tackle poverty and contribute towards the fight against inequalities in countries with lower rates of development in Africa, Asia and Latin America, through projects implemented by Spanish NGOs in collaboration with local partners in the recipient countries.
Funding Information
- Projects submitted to this call may apply for grants for an amount of up to €50,000
- The requested amount must be linked to the execution of a project with a duration of up to 12 months.
- The amount requested may not exceed 75% of the total cost of the project. In the event that the project is selected, the entity undertakes to contribute at least 25% of the total cost of the project, regardless of the amount of aid granted.
- This contribution may be made by another co-financier, the local partner, etc., remaining excluded from the calculation possible contributions from the final beneficiary groups of the project.
Eligibility Criteria
The following types of organizations can apply for the call:
- Non-profit organizations
- Social economy organization that specifically state in their Articles of Association that their goal is to promote international development aid.
- These organizations must be legally incorporated and recorded in the corresponding register, domiciled in Spain and have the institutional goal of carrying out activities connected with international development aid.
- The organizations must have a local partner in the country where the project is to take place.

- Grants for Civil Society and NGOs
In the framework of the International Decade for People of African Descent, OHCHR is inviting proposals to support projects of civil society and non-government organizations that aim at promoting and protecting the human rights of people of African descent through the IDPAD grant scheme.

Funding Information
The IDPAD grant scheme is for a maximum duration of 12 months and the amount requested from OHCHR for the implementation of the project cannot exceed 15,000 USD.

- ADWF’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence
The African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF) is inviting applications for the 2022 Sixteen Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence on “Young women-led approaches to addressing digital/online safety for women and girls”.

- 2022 World AIDS Day Grant to reduce HIV-related Stigma
The African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF) is pleased to announce the World AIDS Day 2022 grant call to support work under “Employing technology to reduce HIV-related stigma and new infections among young women”. To contribute to the creation of safe, accessible digital spaces, AWDF invites applications from women-led organizations and women’s groups for work using digital technologies such as mobile phones, social media and online apps to address stigma discrimination against women living with HIV, and to facilitate access to treatment and services.

- MSIF Du Pré Grant 2022 for MS Researches and Clinicians from low and middle-income countries
The MSIF Du Pré Grant enables multiple sclerosis researchers and clinicians from low and middle-income countries to make short visits (up to six months) to established MS research centres, outside of their own country. Visits may last between two and six months. Each grant is up to a maximum of £6,000 GBP, to cover the cost of travel and living expenses or to top up an existing grant to extend a visit.
Eligibility Requirements
All candidates must:
- Be educated to post graduate level (at least MSc, but preferably PhD/MD) in an area relevant to multiple sclerosis (MS)
- Be citizens of low-or-middle-income country (all countries with a low, or lower middle or upper middle income as defined by the World Bank)
- Focus their research proposal in an area relevant to multiple sclerosis
Candidates must also be in one of the following situations:
- Working or studying in a low-or-middle-income country (all countries with a low, lower middle or upper middle income as defined by the World Bank) at the time of nomination
- Working or studying in another country on a project which started within the six months prior to nomination
- Studying in another country on a project supported by an MS International Federation grant
