Fubara says he has buried the hatchet with Wike

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has officially announced the resolution of his political feud with former governor and current FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

The reconciliation marks the end of a turbulent six-month period that saw Rivers State placed under emergency rule by President Bola Tinubu.

In a statewide broadcast on Friday, Governor Fubara acknowledged that the emergency rule imposed in March 2025 was challenging but ultimately successful in bringing all parties together.

“Our Leader, His Excellency, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, and I, as your Governor, have all accepted to bury the hatchet and embrace peace,” Fubara declared during his address.

The emergency rule, which lasted until mid-September, suspended Fubara, his deputy, and the Rivers State House of Assembly amid a severe political and legislative crisis.

President Tinubu’s intervention proved crucial in brokering the peace process between the warring factions that had paralyzed governance in the oil-rich state.

The governor’s return to office signals a new chapter for Rivers State politics, following months of public clashes between rival factions.

This reconciliation between Fubara and Wike represents a significant breakthrough in resolving the lingering political tensions that have dominated the state’s political landscape.
