Federal Civil Service Recruitment Deadline Extended to March 17, 2025

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially extended the deadline for applications into the Federal Civil Service to Monday, March 17, 2025. This decision follows widespread complaints from citizens about difficulties accessing the online recruitment portal, prompting the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) to grant additional time for eligible Nigerians to apply.

The extension aims to ensure broader participation in the ongoing recruitment exercise, which offers over 70 vacancies across various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

Initial Announcement and Technical Challenges

The FCSC first launched the recruitment drive on January 27, 2025, with an original closing date of March 10, 2025. The announcement, published in national dailies and on the commission’s official website (www.fedcivilservice.gov.ng), invited qualified candidates to apply for a range of positions.

However, the process hit a snag as numerous applicants reported technical issues with the portal, hindering their ability to submit applications. While some managed to register successfully, the volume of complaints sparked calls for an extension to level the playing field.

FCSC Responds to Applicant Concerns

Acknowledging the challenges, FCSC spokesperson Hassan Taiwo addressed the situation in a statement on Monday, March 10, 2025. He admitted that technical glitches had affected some users but emphasized that others had completed their registrations without issues.

To resolve the matter and accommodate more applicants, the commission published a fresh advertisement in two prominent newspapers—The Sun and The Nation—on March 10, 2025, with an additional notice scheduled for Daily Trust on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. This new advertisement formally extended the deadline, superseding the initial March 10 cutoff.

Details of the Extension

The updated announcement, also reflected on the FCSC website, states: “The Federal Civil Service Commission has extended the closing date for receiving applications for various vacancies in the Federal Civil Service to Monday, March 17, 2025, to allow more eligible candidates to participate in the exercise.”

This move overrides the earlier timeline set out in the January 27 advertisement. The commission has urged qualified Nigerians to seize this opportunity and apply before the revised deadline, with all relevant details now accessible online and in the specified newspapers.

Commitment to Transparency

In its statement, the FCSC reassured applicants of a fair and merit-driven process. “The Commission assures applicants of a merit-driven and transparent recruitment process,” the advertisement concluded.

This pledge aims to bolster public confidence in the exercise, particularly in light of the earlier setbacks. With the portal issues now under scrutiny, the extension provides a critical window for those previously unable to apply, ensuring the recruitment remains inclusive and competitive.

Call to Action for Applicants

Nigerians seeking to join the Federal Civil Service are encouraged to act swiftly and submit their applications before the new deadline of March 17, 2025.

The updated information, including vacancy details and application guidelines, is available on the FCSC website (https://recruitment.fedcivilservice.gov.ng/vacancies). As the clock ticks toward the revised cutoff, the commission’s extension offers a final chance for eligible candidates to pursue these coveted government positions.
