FCT Resident Doctors Launch Warning Strike Over Welfare Concerns

FCT Resident Doctors Launch Warning Strike Over Welfare Concerns

On September 8, 2025, resident doctors in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) initiated a warning strike to press for improved welfare and working conditions.

The action, led by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) in the FCT, aims to draw attention to unresolved issues affecting healthcare delivery, including inadequate remuneration, delayed salary payments, and insufficient hospital resources.

The strike follows failed negotiations with relevant authorities, with the doctors expressing frustration over unmet promises to address their grievances. Patients in FCT hospitals may face disruptions in medical services as the strike continues, though emergency cases are reportedly being attended to.

The ARD has called on the government to act swiftly to resolve the issues, warning that failure to do so could lead to an indefinite strike. The public is urged to support the doctors’ demands for better healthcare infrastructure and fair treatment of medical professionals.
