Staff members of a First City Monument Bank (FCMB) branch in Owerri, Imo State have caught a man who tried to hack the bank’s system by walking in as a customer and locking himself in the toilet at the close of business on Monday.
A staff member, Praise John who posted it on X said, “A customer entered our FCMB bank in Secretariat yesterday, went straight to the toilet and locked himself there, then climbed up the ceiling.
“When he noticed that all the staff had gone, he came down and tried to hack all the systems. He also locked himself inside. This morning, when my colleagues arrived at the office, they noticed the door was locked from the inside.
“They had to break the door and go in; that’s when they noticed that someone was on top of the ceiling. Immediately, they turned on their system, and it started showing *“restarting, click ok to accept.”
In a now viral video, the suspect was seen begging for his life as he was been beaten by security operatives.
There were mixed reactions to the video especially the fact the suspect was beaten by bank staff and security operatives alike.
An X user @heisfab said “We need to improve our mentality, beating him makes no sense, even the police are involved, that’s bad.”
Another User Ghetto noted “If he was in America they’ll hire him and use him for their own benefit but look at how the Nigerian police are beating him. Mtchew”
Willian Okunola noted “Which country is this ? Police using gun to flog suspect? Another using rope to tie the suspect in the leg. What happened to handcuff and criminal proceeding? Why is the police resulting to jungle justice and not prosecuting…. The security agencies can do better.”
