“The #EndSARS means many things to me, but I think the most important is that it created a consciousness in me that I am not alone in my frustrations with Nigeria. It is a glimmer of hope that we can change Nigeria if we collectively agree to redirect the country on a path that enables the citizenry to be inspired by what s/he can do for the country and what the country can do for citizens. While it is currently clear that Nigeria’s current crop of leaders are still resistant to the demands (#5for5) of the protests, I believe the most important thing that this momentum should change is the attitude of young people to elections. That is, a shift in the mindset of qualified and credible individuals (millennials and young adults inclusive) to contest for more electoral positions, increase current engagements within their localities and more importantly coming out to vote (less than 30% of registered voters, participated in the 2019 elections).”
