On September 12, 2018, Apple released iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, describing the new phones as “everything you love about an iPhone taken to the extreme”. This suggests that the new iPhones are the best ever seen. So, what has changed?
Positive changes
● The new iPhones have wide screens. The XS carries a 5.8-inch screen while the XS Max carries a 6.5-inch screen, the widest ever mounted on any iPhone yet. They have the sharpest OLED displays and highest pixel density of any Apple device.
● Largest ever Internal storage of up to 512GB
● Apples fastest chipset yet, the A12 Bionic chip
● Dual camera system

● It does not have the home button. This makes the edge-to-edge display possible vertically.
● Battery life has improved to about 30 minutes longer on the XS and 90 minutes on the XS Max.
Downsides
● Many users of the new iPhone flagship phones have complained of a charging problem. Some of these users observed that the phones can fail to start charging when a Lightning cable is plugged in while the screen is off.
● Some users have also complained about the failing audio system on the devices
● Slow LTE speed have also been identified as a problem with the new iPhones

There is hope though that the issues would be resolved soon as many of the problems seem to be from the software. Owners can rest assured that an update from the makers would fix everything.
The XS Max should sell in Nigerian between ₦570,000 and ₦850,000 depending on the internal memory size, while the XS should be selling between ₦445,000 and ₦750,000.
Overall, the new iPhone XS and XS Max would be a good buy for prospective buyers moving from versions of the phone lower than the iPhone X. For folks already using the iPhone X, the difference is not much except for mobile video junkies and users needing a lot more internal memory.
