Nigerian music superstar Davido has found himself at the center of renewed controversy after a teenage girl, identified as Anu Adeleke, publicly called on him to submit to a DNA test, reigniting a paternity dispute that dates back more than a decade.
The issue resurfaced after the teenager shared an emotional appeal online, explaining that she has endured years of bullying, doubt, and psychological distress over claims that she is Davido’s first daughter.
According to her, a definitive DNA test would finally put an end to the uncertainty surrounding her identity.
Background of the Allegation
The controversy traces back to 2013, when Ayotomode Labinjoh, Anu’s mother, alleged that she had a brief relationship with Davido during one of his visits to Ibadan for a show.
She later claimed she became pregnant and said Davido initially encouraged her to keep the pregnancy before allegedly cutting off communication.
After the child was born, she asserted that Davido briefly reconnected, named the baby after his late mother, and asked what she wanted from him, only to disappear again.
Over the years, the claims attracted widespread attention, earning Anu the label of “Davido’s secret daughter” in online spaces.
The DNA Test Dispute
In 2014, a paternity test was reportedly conducted at a private laboratory in Lagos.
The result showed Davido was not the biological father. However, Anu’s mother rejected the outcome, alleging irregularities in the process and questioning the credibility of the test.
The matter faded from public attention for years until Anu, now a teenager, reopened the conversation—this time directly addressing Davido and asking for a fresh DNA test to settle the issue conclusively.
Davido’s Response
Davido has now firmly denied the claim once again. In a series of posts on X, the singer stated that five separate DNA tests had already been conducted across different hospitals.
According to him, he selected three medical facilities, while the girl’s family chose two, and all results came back negative.
He insisted that he has never had a personal relationship with Anu’s mother beyond the DNA-testing process and described the renewed accusations as harassment.
Davido added that this would be the last time he addresses the matter publicly, hinting that legal action could follow.
Public Reaction
The renewed controversy has divided public opinion. While some sympathize with the teenager’s emotional appeal, others argue that multiple negative DNA results should bring the matter to a close.
The debate has also sparked broader conversations around celebrity paternity claims, online harassment, and the psychological impact on children caught in public disputes.
As it stands, Davido maintains that his eldest confirmed daughter remains Imade Adeleke, born to Sophia Momodu, and that there is no biological link between him and Anu.
