Dangote Petroleum Refinery has declared a substantial reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), widely known as petrol, dropping from N865 to N835 per litre, effective Wednesday.

This marks the second petrol price cut within a week, reflecting the refinery’s ongoing efforts to ease the financial burden on Nigerian consumers.

The new pricing structure will apply to all key partners, including MRS, AP (Ardova), Heyden, Optima Energy, Hyde, and Tecno Oil, across their retail outlets nationwide.

This was detailed in a press statement signed by the Group’s Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina.

In Lagos, petrol will now retail at N890 per litre, down from the previous N920 per litre, offering immediate relief to consumers in the region.

In the South-West, the price has been set at N900 per litre, reduced from N930, ensuring affordability across the zone.

For the North-West and North-Central regions, petrol will now cost N910 per litre, a decrease from N940, aligning with the refinery’s equitable pricing strategy.

In the South-East, South-South, and North-East, consumers will benefit from a new price of N920 per litre, down from N950, making fuel more accessible in these areas.

Dangote Refinery emphasized that these price reductions reaffirm its commitment to providing high-quality petrol at affordable rates, benefiting consumers across Nigeria.

The refinery is collaborating closely with its partners to ensure this price reduction is effectively implemented nationwide.

This latest move follows a series of price cuts by Dangote Petroleum Refinery, which has reduced the cost of petrol and other refined products by N125 in total.

Earlier in February 2025, the refinery lowered prices for diesel and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), showcasing its sustained efforts to support Nigerian consumers.

Dangote anticipates that this reduction in PMS prices will create a positive ripple effect throughout various sectors of the economy, particularly during the Easter season.

The price cut is expected to provide much-needed relief to consumers and contribute to broader economic growth in Nigeria.

Dangote Refinery remains steadfast in its mission to ensure a steady supply of premium-quality petrol products while maintaining sufficient reserves to meet domestic demand.

This strategy is also designed to support the stability of Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves, a critical factor in the country’s economic health.

The refinery called on industry stakeholders, including marketers and distributors, to continue sourcing products from Dangote to ensure the price reductions are fully realized nationwide.
