Court Orders Mary J Blige to Pay Ex-Husband $30K Per Month

R&B singer, Mary J. Blige, has been ordered by a divorce court judge to pay her estranged husband $30,000 monthly in spousal support.

The nine-time Grammy-winning artist filed for divorce from her husband and manager, Kendu Isaacs, in 2016. Following 12 years of marriage, Blige cited irreconcilable differences as a reason for the split. They have been separated since 2015.

In an interview with Good Morning America, she spoke about what led to her decision. “The breaking point was when I kept asking over and over and over again for respect and to be respected,” she said. “And it just seemed like I was beating a dead horse. It seemed like I was talking to a wall.”

Following the split, Isaacs demanded to be paid $129,319 monthly in spousal support. However, a judge refused to grant his wishes and instead directed Blige to pay $30,000 a month.

Though the couple had no children together, Blige served as step-mother to Isaacs’ three children from previous relationships.
