Job Description

The Program Associate, JEDI, will work closely with the foundation’s Justice, Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion team to advance a broad portfolio of initiatives aimed at integrating and operationalizing climate justice principles into the foundation’s programs and partnerships. The role involves supporting strategic projects, assisting in the development of new initiatives, and collaborating across departments to foster an inclusive organizational culture.

Reporting directly to the Director, JEDI, the successful candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong project management skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of equity issues at the intersection of climate change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on various projects, ensuring alignment with JEDI principles.
  • Support the planning, design, and implementation of new initiatives aimed at embedding justice and equity into climate philanthropy.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform strategy development and identify new opportunities for advancing climate justice.
  • Manage project timelines and track progress to ensure timely delivery of initiatives.
  • Assist in identifying potential grantees, building relationships, and outlining impactful projects for funding.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert over time, becoming a key point of contact for ClimateWorks’ JEDI work.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators related to grantmaking and program initiatives.
  • Draft communications, knowledge products, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide logistical support for virtual and in-person events, including workshops, webinars, and conferences.
  • Contribute to the development of educational and outreach materials, amplifying the foundation’s equity-centered work.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with at least three years of relevant experience in climate justice, equity, or related fields. They will possess:

    • A strong understanding of equity issues related to climate change.
    • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Proven project management experience, with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills suitable for diverse audiences.
    • Ability to work independently in a remote setting while collaborating effectively with teams.
    • Willingness to travel occasionally and work across different time zones as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in a language other than English.
  • Experience working or living in the Global South.
  • Familiarity with philanthropic practices and climate justice initiatives.

Compensation & Benefits

ClimateWorks Foundation offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package. The salary range for candidates based in the U.S. is approximately:

  • $80,000 – $85,000 annually in the Bay Area or NYC.
  • $75,000 – $80,000 annually in other U.S. locations.
  • International salary range – will be determined based on the location and local cost of labor.
